Frequently Asked Questions

What is CineCast?

CineCast is a 64 bit Windows 10 software application designed for the rapid creation and editing of high quality, silky-smooth credits rolls (aka crawls) for motion pictures and television. CineCast's intuitive interface and automation result in rapid creation of even complex feature film-style layouts.

Why is CineCast fast to use?

CineCast uses a preset-based system which automatically manages the layout of text and graphics as you type. All editing is done in full resolution and in real time - you see the end result as you type - no need for spreadsheets, templates or other proxies. Re-arrange the credits sequence quickly using cut and paste of single cells or whole clusters.

Presets are accessed directly from the toolbar or via function keys F1 to F8 on the keyboard. CineCast includes a wide range of presets that allows the creation of simple to complex, feature-film style, credit roll layouts.

How does CineCast avoid flicker?

CineCast always scrolls an integral number of "lines per frame" - this is the key to avoiding flicker. However, this usually restricts the roll to a handful of possible durations. CineCast overcomes this problem using a unique, intelligent software algorithm, called Smart Stretch, which automatically micro-adjusts vertical font scaling and cell and cluster spacings to enable a wide range of project roll durations without flicker. Best of all, CineCast does all of this scaling automatically using a high quality rendering engine - you have only to select the project duration from the available range.

What are CineCast's export options?

CineCast exports a credits roll as a folder containing an sRGB TIFF image file sequence; at up to 4K (CineCast Studio) and HD (CineCast Indie). CineCast supports alpha channels - allowing you to superimpose the credits roll on background video.
